BEST WAY FOR THE TREATMENT OF FEMALE PATTER HAIR LOSS

Best ways for the treatment of female pattern hair lossBest ways for the treatment of female pattern hair lossAlmost every woman develops some degrees of female pattern hair loss in her life. This problem can start anytime once she enters her puberty. But the chances are more common around menopause when the loss of hair increases drastically. The risk of hair loss is more in older woman and it also depends on hereditary factors.
In female pattern hair loss, the hormone androgens play a crucial role as it regulates the growth of hair. This problem in some cases arises from the underlying endocrine condition like overproduction of androgen or an androgen –secreting tumor on the ovary or adrenal gland. The problem of alopecia is more likely to be because of increased androgen activity. But in women, it is difficult to determine the role of androgens as when the androgen-secreting tumor is involved then it becomes imperative to ascertain the level of androgen with clear female pattern hair loss. Check out some of the best ways for the treatment of this problem:

Minoxidil (Rogaine, generic versions):

MinoxidilAlthough this drug was used earlier in the treatment of hypertension but some people noticed that it is helping in hair growth. Now research also confirmed that 2% solution of minoxidil when applied on the scalp will stimulate hair growth. But how it works is still not clear.
It is not a miracle drug but it helps to produce some new growth of fine hair. But still it can’t restore the full density of lost hair. The results will come after continued use of this drug for two months. The effect of this drug increases after four months but it is not sure that it will be same in all women. Minoxidil is safe but it has some side effects as it leads to alcohol related skin irritation. In some cases, the new hair growth is of different hair color and texture. Another major side effect is that it can cause hair growth on other wrong areas like cheeks, chin or forehead.

Anti-androgens:

Anti-androgensAndrogen receptor blocking drugs like spironolactone (Aldactone) and finasteride (Propecia) are not approved drugs for female pattern hair loss but still reliable evidence of its effectiveness are available.Reasearch also indicates that women who don’t respond well to minoxidil may get benefit from the addition of the drug spironolactone. In some of the lesser known causes, when the androgen is in excess in the body then a clinician may prescribe around 100-200 milligrams of androgen reception blocking drug that has to be taken regularly with an oral contraceptive for women who are in reproductive age. Some of the side effects of this drug are if the women conceive while taking this drug then some genital abnormalities may come up. That’s why an oral contraceptive pill along with this drug is also recommended to be on safer side. Other possible side effects are loss of libido, weakness in the body, increase in body weight and depression.

Iron supplements:

Iron supplementsThe deficiency of iron in the body leads to female pattern hair loss. A clinical test will indicate the amount of iron supplement required by your body. The supplements of iron are recommended when women have iron level of less than 70 nanograms per milliliter. So in case any woman have anemia history and have problems of excessive bleeding in menstruation then they should take iron supplements to prevent hair loss. There are no side effects of taking an iron supplement. But this type of treatment of female pattern hair loss lacks reliable evidence for hair growth.

Hair transplantation:

Hair transplantationHair transplantation is in use in the United States since 1950’s. It involves removing a strip of hair from the scalp and the back side of the head and using it for filling the rest of the bald area. In mid 1990s, a technique known as follicular unit hair transplantation was introduced by hair –transplant surgeons. During this procedure, a narrow strip of hair is removed from the scalp and then after its division into hundreds of tiny grafts is implanted in a slit of the scalp that is created with the help of a blade or needle on the area of missing hair. By doing so, hair growth starts naturally in small clusters of one to four follicles that are called by the name follicular units. This leads to better look of the graft.
The transplanted hair will start shedding within two to three weeks and new hair growth will occur in another three months. After a period of six to nine months, people will achieve around 60 % of hair growth. Some of the side effects of this procedure are some women experience folliculitis .It means inflammation of the follicle. But this is a minor complication and can easily be treated with some anti-biotic and use of compresses.Another limitation of this procedure is that the hair transplant may not fill the head as densely as before and it purely depends upon the donor hair.

Head massage:

Head massageHead massage will help to improve the blood circulation in the scalp and growth of hair will take place in its own. This can be done with the help of a head massager or manually with the help of a person. A regular head massage will help to increase the hair growth on the affected area and the problem of a will be minimized.
