Medicinal Uses
Insomnia:
Take one tablespoon of honey with dinner every night. After about a week, many fall asleep faster and sleep better. If this doesn’t produce a good sleep, or if something has given you tension late in the day, make a mixture of one tablespoon apple cider vinegar and a cup of honey. Store in a jar by the bed with a teaspoon; take two teaspoons when preparing for bed. If sleep doesn’t come within an hour, take another two teaspoons. Usually two doses will be enough, but this dosing may be repeated hourly as long as necessary.
Simple Cough Syrup:
Boil a lemon in water for ten minutes to soften the rind and produce more juice. Cut the lemon in two and squeeze the juice into a twelve-ounce glass. Add two tablespoons of glycerin and mix well. Fill the remainder of the glass with honey and mix well again. Take one teaspoon as needed for cough (stir well before use).
Muscle Cramps:
Cramps in the legs and feet have been controlled by taking two teaspoons of honey with each meal. This has shown to be helpful within a week. This remedy has also been known to control twitches of the eye and the corners of the mouth. When continued indefinitely, it may prevent their return.
Burns:
Apply directly to burns to relieve pain and prevent blisters. It provides rapid healing of the burned areas.
Honeycomb Allergy Treatments:
Chewing honeycomb may desensitize a person to hay fever and wind-born allergens.  Chew a piece for fifteen minutes, three times weekly. Discard what remains. Severe cases should start taking one tablespoon of honey with meals about three months before allergy season starts. Two weeks prior to the beginning of allergy season, start taking two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in eight ounces of water at breakfast and bedtime. Continue these throughout the allergy season.
*For allergy treatments, all honey/honeycomb remedies should be made from honey produced locally to be the most effective.
Honeycomb may also relieve sinusitis. Chew a piece about the size of a piece of gum for fifteen minutes. Discard what remains. Repeat every four to six hours as needed. If honeycomb is not readily available, take two teaspoons of honey with each meal.
